The Valley Weavers & Spinners meetings are on the first Tuesday of the month. Social Hour starts at 6:00 pm and the meetings start at 7:00 pm. We meet at the Denkmann-Hauberg house at 1300 24th Street, Rock Island, IL 61201.

Jan will lead a discussion on characteristics of Longwools, and ways to use these wools in weaving and knitting.  She will bring samples of them for members to handle and to spin.

Program:  An Overview of Twill Structure
In the Nov/Dec 2013 HANDWOVEN magazine, Madelyn Van Der Hoogt says, “It is no exaggeration to say that twill is the most illustrious and versatile of weave structures.”  
We will discuss twill characteristics, threading twill, weaving twill, its variations, and its uses in weaving.  
Please bring…your weaving class sampler if you have one… items woven in twill … books with information about twills.

Winter in Bloom at Hauberg… December 1, afternoon… Members bring looms and wheels to demonstrate our crafts for visitors to the Open House.

On Saturday, the Guild met at Eastern Library for a Felting Workshop taught by Jennie.  We transformed felted wool sweaters into embellished tote bags.  Great fun!
